The UK airline is introducing no-cost fast onboard wifi through space-based deal

Travelers flying with British Airways will soon access high-speed internet in the air without charge due to a new deal with SpaceX's satellite company.

British Airways announced that the complimentary, “fast and dependable” connectivity provision from the satellite provider is set to be offered for travelers in economy, business, or first class starting the coming month.

Broad Rollout Throughout Multiple Flight Operators

The umbrella company of BA, International Airlines Group, announced it had finalized an partnership involving the satellite firm to provide wifi access across more than 500 planes across their airlines, including the Irish airline, the Spanish carrier, plus the low-cost airline.

Uninterrupted Connectivity starting at Boarding through Arrival

British Airways explained that the introduction of this service was part of a £7bn “modernization” program that will provide smooth connectivity coverage for passengers from boarding to arrival, including when traveling across seas and isolated areas.

Existing Connectivity Services

Members in the airline's reward scheme may dispatch texts plus text-only emails during flights at no cost, whereas travelers who want to stream audio, films, and movies throughout their flight who are not travelling in premium cabins can expect to be charged from £4.99 and £21.99 for a connectivity package.

The airline's management are striving to improve British Airways around following a long time with financial constraints, IT problems, labor disputes, and mass redundancies.

BA noted that application of artificial intelligence has assisted it to achieve its on-time performance at the best levels since over a decade ago.

Recently, British Airways reported a rise for financial performance during the first half of the year, contributing to IAG’s earnings upward.
